Anthems From The Past
That instead of the Russian national anthem at the closing of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic games they sang the Soviet Anthem....
I do, personally, prefer the Soviet anthem. It has a haunting feel to it. It also reminds me of "The Hunt For Red October".
One must wonder why they chose that song for the passing of the torch from Canada to theUSSR I mean Russia. Was this done by mistake? Is someone still stuck in 1972? Nostalgic about communism are we? Who knows. It was strange to hear that anthem sung again. I now look forward to the 2014 winter Olympics.
