Why Craig Anderson could really help the Ottawa Senators

Why Craig Anderson could really help the Ottawa Senators

This is Brian Murray's best move of all time. If the Ottawa Senators can sign him after the end of this horrible season that is. The Senators traided a long shot goalie, Brian Elliott for a proven goalie. In 2009-2010 Craig Anderson was probably one of the best goalies. He had a great year. 2010-2011 saw him struggle while net minding for Colorado.

Brian Murray has done a lot of dumb moves over the past couple years. The Dany Heatley trade, the Pascal Leclerc trade and the Alex Kovalev deal were all face-palm moves. His first was trading away the heater, the pizza line finisher, Dany Heatly for Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek . This was a trading a franchise player for two mediocre players. Both did not live up to any of the offense Dany Heatley could have brought. The second trade was even worse. Brian Murray traded away one of Ottawa's best face off man, Antoine Vermette away to Columbus for a goalie on crutches. That press conference where Pascal Leclaire showed up on crutches foreshadowed his entire stay with the Ottawa Senators. All I though while watching this was face palm city. As a result Ottawa lost more face-offs and thus lost puck possession and had to play with backup goalies due to constant injuries. His other major mistake was signing Alex Kovalev to huge contract. Of course he never delivered as I clearly knew before the move was made.

With Pascal Leclaire or Brian Elliott the defense looked worried everytime the puck was in their zone. They did not display any confidence in their goalie. I could see the team regaining this confidence playing in front of Craig Anderson. The same confidence they showed in front of Ray Emery or Dominik Hasek.

We welcome you Craig Anderson.
