Vancouver Olympics - Canada Wins Gold

The Canadian men's hockey team has won gold. It was a hard battle, through many nail biting minutes in the third period but they prevailed in overtime.

I sat and watched the game enduring the final minute comeback by team USA making it 2-2 with only 30 seconds left. Cursing at the screen and almost spilling my beer, then cursing some more the game went into overtime.

Then the overtime started and five minutes in Canada's golden boy Sydney Crosby scored the winning goal and the place exploded. The streets were full of happy Canadians and I was elated. You could feel the nation exhaling a cumulative breath that was being held in anticipation. And in one brief moment the nation exhaled and won a long deserved gold medal.
